Berwick Riverfront project underway

BERWICK, Maine —A group of Berwick residents has begun fundraising to create riverfront access on the banks of the Salmon Falls.
Friends of the Berwick Riverfront plan to install a safe and convenient launching dock on a Rochester Street property, owned by the town, that has 100 feet of river frontage.
The group has a three-year plan to build a dock and eventually a conservation building, but co-chair Nichole Fecteau said the timetable could be accelerated if funds become available sooner.
“Last Tuesday, Selectmen gave us permission to start fundraising and to move forward with our project,” Fecteau said. “And in one week of fundraising we have already collected $5,661 and are halfway to our goal.”

Bridge often confused as replacement project continues

DOVER — Despite his place in history as a Revolutionary War hero, three-term New Hampshire governor and the state’s first federal judge, the 275th anniversary of General John Sullivan’s birth on Tuesday, Feb. 17, is likely to go unnoticed by most people.
No celebrations are planned in his hometown of Somersworth or in Durham, where he lived and practiced law.
Even the largest physical tribute to the man — the General Sullivan Bridge – is the subject of confusion.
